Detailed Procedure: Removing Cylinder Head
Procedure Steps:
- Disconnect power from the main switch.
- Clean the engine exterior and drain the coolant. Disconnect coolant hoses from the cylinder head and thermostat housing.
- Detach the suction hoses between the turbocharger and air filter, as well as the inlet manifold.
- Disconnect the turbocharger’s oil pipes, both pressure and return.
- Remove the valve cover.
- Disconnect wires from the intake air heater and injectors.
- Remove the injector leak-off fuel pipe and the high-pressure pipes. Remove injectors and cover open connections with blanking caps.
WARNING: Do not perform any work on the common rail high-pressure fuel system while the engine is running. After stopping the engine, wait at least 30 seconds before loosening any high-pressure components. Fuel under high pressure can cause severe injuries if it penetrates the skin. Seek immediate medical attention if it makes contact.
- Detach the inlet and exhaust manifolds and the thermostat housing. Note that removing the cylinder head is possible with these components attached.
- Remove the rocker arm mechanism and push rods.
- Loosen all cylinder head bolts by 1/4 turn first, then completely unscrew and remove them to lift off the cylinder head.
