Manual Extract: Boom Operation
During the boom raise operation, the pilot secondary pressure is introduced into the Pb8 port, enabling the movement of the spool responsible for the boom’s function. As the spool shifts, the bypass circuit is interrupted at the boom switching section, allowing oil from the P1 port to traverse through the check valve located on top of the spool bypass circuit, thereby feeding into the main parallel circuit within the boom switching section.
This movement opens the pathway from the boom lock valve section to the bridge passage, allowing oil in the parallel circuit to pass through the load check valve at the boom switching section. Consequently, it flows into the B8 port, engaging the boom’s lock valve in free flow, and feeds the oil into the boom cylinder’s head side, prompting extension and lifting of the boom (refer to pages 11 and 12 for more on the lock valve).
Simultaneously, the return oil from the boom cylinder’s rod side is channeled into the A8 port. With the spool’s motion, this oil continues into the tank circuit, effectively completing the extension process.
Oil from the Pp port crosses an orifice positioned in the P1 and P2 supply section, moving into the pilot circuit. Here, the pilot circuit oil flows from the travel switching section into the tank circuit, equalizing pilot circuit pressure with tank pressure, thus preventing the switching of the travel spool.
