Troubleshooting Guide for Alternator System

Manual Extract Troubleshooting

Before commencing any service work, ensure that the drive belt is in good condition and that it is properly tensioned. The alternator should show a current flow, which can be verified by the charge warning lamp not being lit or by the reading on an ammeter, indicating the system’s functionality. No additional checks of open circuit voltage or current flow are needed unless the following issues are observed:

• The charge indicator lamp fails to illuminate when the alternator is stationary and the switch is in the “On” position, or erroneously illuminates when the alternator is active.
• The ammeter indicates no current flow.
• The battery is discharged.
• The battery is excessively hot, suggesting a loss of voltage control.
