Manual Extract: Error Code E40
Error Code E40 occurs when a mode lever shuttle-shift (from forward to reverse, or reverse to forward) is attempted at speeds exceeding 2 mph. This speed is too high to safely execute a gear match in any gear above 1st. As a result, the audio alarm will sound continuously. The transmission then enters a controller-authorized “Electrical Neutral” state. During this state, any commands from the mode lever, pulsar lever, and the clutch pedal switch are disabled to prevent mismatched speeds.
Key Instructions for Error Resolution
- Shift the mode lever into neutral.
- Shift back into forward or reverse, ensuring the speed is below 2 mph.
Additional Troubleshooting
If the speed (MPH) or engine RPM values displayed are incorrect, it is recommended to:
- Inspect the wiring harness for faults.
- Check connectors at the engine RPM sender and transmission MPH sender.
