This manual provides comprehensive instructions for adjusting the speed gear shift rod position, specifically tailored for situations where specific components such as the shift rail, control fork, synchro, gearbox, secondary shaft, or the related gears have been replaced. Measurements are given in millimeters to ensure precision.
Key Features
- Detailed guide for speed gear shift rod position adjustment.
- Specific instructions for various components including shift rail and synchro.
- Includes guidelines for both 3rd/4th and 1st/2nd gear shift rods.
- Uses specific tools for accurate measurement and adjustment.
Benefits
- Ensures optimal performance and longevity of the gearbox.
- Improves gear shifting accuracy and reliability.
- Reduces wear and tear on transmission components.
Usage Recommendations
- Follow the sequence of measurements for proper adjustment: rear engagement bushing shim, front engagement bushing shim, piston bolt shim, and neutral position measurement.
- Use load application tool 380003425 and preload measure tool 380003426 for 3rd/4th gear shift rods.
- For 1st/2nd gear shift rods, substitute preload measure tool 380003426 with 380003427.
Adjustment Procedure Overview
- From the rear side of the transmission, use the mounting shims driver tool 380003422 on the 3rd/4th gear shift rod.
- On the front side, install the application load handle tool 380003425 onto the gear shift rod.
- Apply a 2 kg (4.5 lb) load using the handle to position the gear for engagement.
- Measure and document the calibrated length using preload measure tool 380003426 for the 3rd/4th gear shift rod.
- For 1st/2nd gear shift rods, follow the same procedure with preload measure tool 380003427.
Note: Ensure all bushings, screws, and shims are removed initially. Follow the measurement sequence precisely for correct gear shift rod adjustment.
