Manual Extract: Adjust and Balance Brakes
Procedure
- Ensure that all air is removed from the hydraulic brake system.
- Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
- Place the tractor on level ground.
- With the rear wheels attached, jack up the rear of the tractor and place it on axle stands, ensuring the wheels are clear of the ground.
- Slacken off the parking brake cable on the right-hand side of the tractor.
- With an assistant, rotate one of the wheels slowly and tighten the adjuster nut until the wheel just locks. Always rotate the wheel forwards.
- Adjust the brake expander clearance by unscrewing the adjuster nut a specified number of flats, according to the number of friction plates fitted to one side of the axle. Refer to the table in the manual.
- Repeat the operation on the left-hand side of the tractor.
