Manual Extract: Cab Air Filters – Cleaning
Important Cleaning Instructions: To service the cab air filters, follow these steps to ensure safety and effectiveness:
- Preparation: Switch off the blower, close the roof hatch, and close all windows and one door. Close the remaining door forcefully to create back pressure that will dislodge loose dirt from the filter undersides.
-
Safety Precautions:
- Caution: Eye Injury Hazard! Wear protective goggles when using compressed air as failure to do so could result in injury.
-
Cleaning Process:
- Remove the filter elements. The fresh air filtersu2014illustrated in Figure 1 (Deluxe cab) and Figure 2 (low profile cab)u2014include a prefilter designed to capture most dust and chaff. Clean this component first before replacing it.
- Use the pull tab on the recirculation filter, depicted in Figure 3, for removal. Avoid using the filter pleats to prevent damage.
- Clean the filters by blowing compressed air through the element from the top surface to the underside. Ensure the pressure does not exceed 2 bar (29 psi) and maintain a distance of 30 cm (12 in) from the element to prevent pleat damage.
- Wipe all filter chambers using a damp, lint-free cloth.
- Replace the filter elements ensuring the rubber seal is facing upwards and reinstall the covers securely.
Benefits
- Prolongs the lifespan of the cab air system.
- Ensures cleaner air flow within the cab environment.
- Reduces the risk of damage to filter elements through proper handling and cleaning techniques.
Usage Recommendations
- Regularly inspect and clean filters as part of routine maintenance to maintain optimal air quality and system performance.
- Always adhere to safety guidelines to prevent injuries during maintenance processes.
- Utilize the specific figures and illustrations within the manual for accurate component identification and handling.
