Manual Extract: Transmission Drive and Driven Shafts – Disassemble Primary Shaft
1. Place the primary shaft on a workbench with the end that has the bearing attached facing up. Remove the snap ring.
2. Position a bearing separator under the gear, ensuring it is not placed between the gear and the bearing. Attach a suitable puller to the bearing separator. Place a shaft protector between the puller and the end of the primary shaft. Apply moly disulfide grease to the shaft protector and the puller tip. Withdraw the bearing from the primary shaft.
3. Take out the bearing.
4. Remove the thrust washer.
5. Position a bearing separator under the lip of the bearing race as demonstrated. Connect a suitable puller to the bearing separator, using a shaft protector between the puller and the shaft’s end. Lubricate with moly disulfide grease. Extract the bearing race from the primary shaft.
