Disassembly Instructions
- Remove the alternator from the engine. Refer to page 4.
- If installed, remove the suppression capacitor (refer to page 12).
- Remove the regulator and brush box (refer to page 12).
- Remove the three tie bolts and the nuts.
- Remove the rear cover and the stator as a single assembly by tapping the front cover lugs with a soft mallet.
- Note and remove the nuts, washers, and insulators from the stud terminals.
- Remove the retaining screws.
- Separate the rectifier and the stator from the rear cover.
- Note and remove the short and long insulators.
- Unsolder the stator leads from the tags and separate the stator and rectifier.
- Remove the nut and spring washer.
- Remove the pulley, fan, and spacer.
- Using a press, push the rotor shaft out of the bearing in the front cover.
- Remove the spacer.
- Inspect and test the alternator. Refer to page 15.
