Brake Relief Valve Pressure Test
Follow these steps to accurately perform a brake relief valve pressure test:
- Lower the bucket to the floor.
- Apply the parking brake and stop the engine.
- Connect the vacuum pump to the hydraulic reservoir and start the vacuum pump.
- Disconnect the hose from the fitting in the brake section of the hydraulic pump.
- Connect the tee fitting to the fitting in the brake section of the hydraulic pump.
- Connect the hose to the tee fitting.
- Connect the pressure gauge to the tee fitting.
- Stop the vacuum pump.
- Start and run the engine at full throttle, ensuring the oil reaches operating temperature.
- Push down on a brake pedal as far as possible.
- Read the pressure gauge. The pressure should be between 1650 and 1750 psi (11,377 to 12,066 kPa, 113.8 to 120.7 bar).
- If the pressure is not within this range, adjust the brake relief valve accordingly.
