Manual Extract: Pressure Switches
The air conditioning system features two important pressure switches:
- High Pressure Switch: Located in the discharge hose into the condenser.
- Low Pressure Switch: Located in the outlet hose into the expansion valve.
The procedure for removing and installing these switches is identical for each. Discharging the air conditioning system is not necessary before replacement. Follow these steps to safely service the system.
Usage Recommendations
- Ensure the tractor is parked on a hard, level surface with the parking brake applied.
- Turn off the engine and remove the ignition key.
- Block the rear wheels to prevent movement.
- For the High Pressure Switch: Raise the hood for access.
- For the Low Pressure Switch: Raise and tilt the cab roof as detailed in Section 9006.
Installation Steps
Step 1: Gain access to the required pressure switch.
Step 2: Disconnect the switch connector from the harness and remove the switch from the tube fitting.
Note: A small amount of refrigerant may escape from the Schrader valve during this process.
Step 3: Using the VIR core tool from the compressor service tool kit (CAS10747A), check and tighten the Schrader valve in the tube switch fitting.
Important: Do not remove the Schrader valve while the system is charged.
Step 4: Install a new o-ring onto the pressure switch fitting. Lubricate the threads and o-ring with clean mineral oil, then install and tighten the pressure switch.
Step 5: Start the engine and run it at 1500 rpm. Set the air conditioning controls to maximum cooling for 15 minutes. Stop the engine and use an electronic leak detector to check the pressure switch for any leaks.
