Manual Extract: Checking the Alignment of the Leading Wheels
To ensure optimal driving performance, it is crucial to verify that the leading wheels are correctly aligned. The wheels should be angled at 2u00b0 to the ground, creating a difference of 0.6 inches (15 mm) between the top and bottom edges of the 16-inch rims. Moreover, when the vehicle is driving straight, the wheels must align parallel with the tractor’s longitudinal axis or maintain a toe-in of no more than 0.2 inches (5 mm) at the front.
Toe-In Measurement Procedure
- Inflate the front tires to a pressure of 36.2 psi (2.5 bar).
- Position the steering wheel so that one spoke is aligned with the tractor’s longitudinal axis.
- Ensure the wheels are parallel to the tractor’s longitudinal axis.
- Measure the distance (B) between the front inside edges of the rims on a horizontal plane passing between the wheel centers.
- Measure the distance between the rear inside edges on the same plane. The distance should be equal to or greater than (B) by up to 0.2 inches (5 mm).
- If necessary, adjust the toe-in by manipulating the end of the transverse steering tie-rod.
