The weight of the equalizer beam is significant: 230 pounds (104 kg) for the 62-inch (1575 mm) gauge dozer and 335 pounds (152 kg) for the 74-inch (1880 mm) dozer. It is essential to employ lifting equipment or assistance when performing the removal.
Removal Instructions

Remove the Guard:
- The guards weigh between 51 to 72 pounds (23 to 33 kg).
- Position a jack in contact with the guard before removing the cap screws.
- Loosen and remove the cap screws attaching the guard.
- Lower and remove the guard from beneath the machine.
- Elevate the machine’s front to relieve weight from the equalizer beam’s center pivot pin.
- Use jack stands to support the machine after removing the center pivot pin.
- Loosen the nut for the grease hose on the left side frame, then disconnect the hose.
- Remove the cap screws, washers, and spacers from the center pivot pin.
- Thread cap screws into the pivot pin to ease its removal from the frame.
- Extract the pivot pin using a pry bar if necessary.
- Detach the pivot pin from each end of the equalizer beam:
- Loosen and remove cap screws securing the recoil housing cover.
- Take off the cover.
- If track adjuster covers are present, loosen and remove the rear cover screws.
- Remove the rear cover.
- Detach screws, washers, and spacers from the pivot pin and drive it out of the bracket.
- Lift the equalizer beam out of the mounting brackets, ensuring the washers on each side are not lost.
- Gently extract the equalizer beam from the machine, raising the frame if necessary for clearance.
