Manual Extract: Key Switch
The diesel model employs a distributor-type injection pump, with a starter switch that includes an automatic fuel cut engine stop mechanism. Similarly, the gasoline model features this mechanism and also has an anti-restart lock in its key switch. This built-in function prevents the key from being turned from the | (ON) to the (START) position while the engine is running, safeguarding against engine trouble or starter damage that might result from improper operation at startup. Both gasoline and diesel models use the same key switch, which in the diesel variant, connects electrically to activate the glow plugs when the | (ON) position is engaged.
