Gearbox with Power Shuttle u2013 Service Brake Operation
Hydraulic oil flows from the transmission sump to the tri-section pump’s rear section, subsequently passing through a 10-micron high-pressure filter. The oil then reaches the accumulator charge valve assembly:
- Oil is directed into the accumulator upon startup.
- Pressing the service brake pedal allows the release of oil to the front and rear service brakes, providing full braking power even when not in motion.
- A fully charged accumulator supports four to six brake applications before recharging is required.
Note: The engine must be running to recharge the accumulator.
Park Brake Operation of the Challenger MT945C, MT955C, MT965C, MT975C
Much like the service brake system, the hydraulic oil is delivered from the transmission sump through the pump, filter, and into the accumulator upon system startup. The park brake valve works as follows:
- Releasing the parking brake shifts the first spool, allowing oil flow from the accumulator to the park brake.
- Engaging the parking brake reverses this flow, permitting oil to return to the transmission.
