• Allow the engine to cool down to avoid burns from hot oil.

2. Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the rubber seal of the new filter.
3. Tighten the filter quickly until it contacts the mounting surface. Then, hand-tighten it by an additional 1/2 turn.
4. Check for oil leaks at the seal and ensure the oil level is correct using the dipstick, then add more oil if necessary to reach the prescribed level.
