Manual Extract: Checking Piston Packing for the Steering Cylinder

Follow these detailed instructions to inspect the piston packing in the steering cylinder, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.

Steps to Check Piston Packing

1. Engage the parking brake and completely lower the loader bucket to the ground.
2. Turn the steering wheel fully to the right and then shut off the engine.
3. Remove the hose located on the left side of the steering cylinder.
4. Insert a plug into the disconnected hose. Note that the thread size required is 3/416.
5. Restart the engine and set it to run at full throttle.
6. Again, rotate the steering wheel completely to the right. Continue turning while someone inspects the open fitting for any signs of fluid leakage.
7. If leakage is continuous, it indicates damaged piston packing, which will require repair. Please refer to Section 5003 for detailed repair instructions.
